Baby feeding

Posted on Posted in Uncategorised

This may not be fresh news for you, but the topic is so important that we want to make a post: newborn breastfeeding. You should breastfeed your newborn baby every two to three hours throughout day and night for the first 4 weeks. If your baby is not waking up you will need to wake him/her up to create the feeding schedule. Each breastfeeding session will take 20-30 minutes, or until the baby stops sucking and looks relaxed. Then you can burp the baby and offer the other breast – some babies will be satisfied with one breast while others want both. Pay attention to your baby’s cues and be patient…it may require some persistence as newborn babies are frequently sleepy, but it will create a great connection between mum and baby.
Of course, it may be easier said than done. Do you have an experience to share?
Along the coming weeks we will post information about feeding your babies and kids of other ages.
